Vietnam E-visa Ports of Entry: Not Every Checkpoint Accepts E-visas

Vietnam E-visa is a convenient option for many international visitors, but travelers should remember that it can only be used at checkpoints designated by the competent authority.

According to the Vietnam Immigration Department’s E-visa portal, Vietnam E-visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days and may be issued for single or multiple entry depending on the approved application.

The current list includes 33 ports that allow foreigners to enter and exit Vietnam by E-visa, divided into three groups: international airports, landports and seaports.

The international airport group includes Cat Bi, Cam Ranh, Can Tho, Da Nang, Noi Bai, Phu Bai, Phu Quoc and Tan Son Nhat. This is the most common group for tourists and business travelers.

The landport group includes Bo Y, Cha Lo, Cau Treo, Huu Nghi, Ha Tien, Lao Bao, Lao Cai, La Lay, Moc Bai, Mong Cai, Nam Can, Na Meo, Song Tien, Tinh Bien, Tay Trang and Xa Mat.

The seaport group includes Chan May, Da Nang Seaport, Duong Dong, Hon Gai, Hai Phong, Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, Ho Chi Minh City Seaport and Vung Tau.

For multi-stop itineraries, the port of entry and port of exit may be different, but both should be on the E-visa port list to avoid problems at border control.

Before departure, travelers should check the E-visa details carefully, including full name, passport number, nationality, date of birth, visa validity, number of entries and intended checkpoint.

A small mistake such as selecting the wrong airport, entering an incorrect passport number or using a different passport from the one declared in the E-visa application may delay or prevent entry.

For companies, air ticket agents and tour operators, checking E-visa checkpoints should be part of the process before ticket issuance or final itinerary confirmation, especially for trips combining air, land and sea routes.
