Lufthansa restores Kuala Lumpur–Frankfurt nonstop flights

Lufthansa returns to Kuala Lumpur with five weekly Frankfurt flights on the Boeing 787-9. Check the schedule and onward-travel considerations.

A restored link aboard the Boeing 787-9

Lufthansa has restored nonstop flights between Kuala Lumpur and Frankfurt, adding another link between Southeast Asia and Europe. In its 26 October 2026 announcement, the airline confirmed an initial five weekly services operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft featuring its Allegris cabin.

Malaysia Airports says the return restores a connection with the Frankfurt hub after almost a decade. For business travellers and independent holidaymakers, the route's appeal extends beyond Germany: Frankfurt can also serve as a connecting point for the rest of the journey.

Overnight flights in both directions

The published schedule has LH705 leaving Kuala Lumpur at 23:55 and reaching Frankfurt at 06:00 the following morning. In the opposite direction, LH704 departs Frankfurt at 21:30 and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 16:40 the next day. Times are local and should be checked against the chosen travel date.

A morning arrival in Frankfurt may help with onward planning, but connection time still needs careful attention. Allow for the procedures and airport transfers relevant to the itinerary. The gap between two flight times in a search result is not, by itself, enough to judge a connection.

Compare the complete journey from Vietnam

For travellers starting in Vietnam, a journey through Kuala Lumpur may be worth comparing, depending on available flights and ticket conditions. Before buying separate tickets, establish whether bags need to be collected and checked in again, and what support applies if an earlier flight is delayed.

Include any overnight stay or terminal transfer in the overall cost. Then compare journey length, baggage and flexibility alongside the fare. An announced schedule does not guarantee either a particular price or seat availability; checking the complete itinerary before payment remains essential.
