Phu Quoc keeps its separate visa-free entry policy of up to 30 days for foreign visitors

Alongside the broader e-visa and visa exemption policies, Phu Quoc continues to maintain its own separate entry arrangement that allows foreign visitors to stay for up to 30 days without a visa.

Under the special policy framework for the island, foreigners and overseas Vietnamese holding foreign passports are exempt from visas when entering, exiting and residing on Phu Quoc within that time limit.

One important detail is that travelers arriving through another international border gate of Vietnam, remaining in the transit area and then continuing to Phu Quoc are still covered by the visa-free arrangement.

That mechanism helps preserve Phu Quoc’s advantage as an easy-to-access beach destination within Vietnam’s island tourism network, especially for seasonal international flights and short-stay leisure demand.

Passengers should still review their actual routing, first point of entry and intended area of stay to ensure that the itinerary fits the scope of the island’s visa-free regime.

As regional competition for visitors intensifies, Phu Quoc’s dedicated 30-day exemption remains an important policy tool for supporting international air links and sustaining the island’s appeal.
