Ryanair moves bag-drop deadline to 60 minutes from 10 November

Ryanair bag drop closes 60 minutes before departure from 10 November 2026. Understand the separate online check-in and boarding-gate deadlines.

An earlier deadline for checked bags

Ryanair has reminded passengers that airport bag-drop desks will close 60 minutes before scheduled departure from 10 November 2026, replacing the current 40-minute deadline. The airline issued its reminder on 27 October, ahead of the change taking effect across the airports it serves.

Bags must be handed over before the desk closes. Reaching the terminal, or joining a queue, is not the same as completing bag drop. For example, a flight scheduled for 14:00 will have a 13:00 desk closure under the new rule, so baggage formalities need to be completed before that point.

Online check-in remains a separate step

Ryanair's Help Centre says the change does not alter online check-in times. Passengers must still complete web or app check-in at least two hours before departure. Checking in online does not remove the need to visit bag drop when travelling with hold luggage.

The boarding gate has its own deadline. Ryanair's conditions of carriage require passengers to be at the gate at least 30 minutes before departure. The bag-drop cutoff should therefore never be treated as the time to start making your way through the airport.

Work backwards from your departure time

For Vietnamese and Korean travellers combining several European cities, it helps to plan backwards: airport transport, queues, bag drop, checks and the walk to the gate all take time. If arriving on a separately booked flight, also consider whether baggage must be collected and checked in again.

Before travel, review the airline's latest messages and confirm the airport and terminal on the booking. Keep travel documents, the boarding pass and baggage confirmation ready. Building a comfortable margin into the journey is especially valuable at an unfamiliar airport.
