Vietjet Adds 82,000 Seats and Around 400 Flights for Vietnam’s National Day Peak

Vietjet is preparing a sizeable capacity increase for Vietnam’s September 2 National Day peak, adding about 82,000 seats across domestic and international services. The expansion is equivalent to roughly 400 extra flights and is designed to absorb the sharp rise in travel demand expected from late August into early September.

Between August 26 and September 5, 2026, the airline plans to operate more than 4,400 flights. Most of the extra services will focus on links from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Hue and Da Lat. The larger schedule should give travelers more flexibility, especially for short breaks built around fixed holiday dates.

Internationally, Vietjet’s network also offers additional options across Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, Australia, India and Sri Lanka. A broad network gives the carrier room to shift aircraft and capacity toward markets where bookings are strongest, while Ho Chi Minh City remains an important connecting point for both domestic and international traffic.

During a holiday peak, airport processing can matter as much as the number of flights. Vietjet says it is reinforcing staffing and operational resources at airports to support check-in and boarding. Travelers should reconfirm their flight status before leaving for the airport and allow extra time for baggage drop and security screening, particularly during the busiest departure waves.

Online check-in through the Vietjet Air app, together with VNeID-based processing where available, can reduce time spent in queues. The additional 82,000 seats should noticeably improve supply, but convenient departure times can still sell quickly. Passengers with fixed plans may therefore benefit from booking earlier rather than waiting until the final days before the holiday.
