Vietnam grants 45-day visa-free entry to citizens of 12 countries through March 2028

Vietnam’s Government has issued Resolution 44/NQ-CP, granting visa-free entry to citizens of 12 countries from March 15, 2025 through March 14, 2028.

The list covers Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Under the policy, travelers from those countries may stay in Vietnam for up to 45 days from the date of entry regardless of passport type or purpose of visit, provided that they meet all entry conditions under Vietnamese law.

These are important source markets for Vietnam’s airline and tourism sectors, so the extension of the policy through 2028 is widely seen as supportive for route planning, ticket sales and longer-stay travel demand.

For eligible passengers, the practical pre-departure checklist goes beyond counting the allowed days of stay and should also include passport validity and any other entry requirements applicable at the border gate.

From a market perspective, the 45-day scheme strengthens Vietnam’s competitiveness in the region while making it easier to stimulate travel on routes linking Europe and Northeast Asia with key destinations in Vietnam.
